This webinar will focus on gender issues in dryland ecosystems in the eastern and southern Africa region,
which are inhabited by vulnerable communities with limited capacities to adapt to climate change. Eunice
Mwangi from the Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) in Nairobi, Kenya, will
focus on opportunities presented in gender policy frameworks, cascading from the global to the local family
unit level, and how cultural barriers can be overcome to empower women to adapt to climate change. In
her presentation, Eunice will also discuss the role of institutions in promoting women’s involvement in STEM
through inclusive education systems and research development.
