The University of Arizona is home to 21 colleges and schools and close to 100 centers and institutes spanning diverse disciplines. The HATS program takes a multidisciplinary approach to humanitarian assistance and disaster management. We bring together different departments from across the University of Arizona to spark conversation and develop new ideas and methods. 

Arizona Institutes for Resilience: Solutions for the Environment and Society (AIR) coordinates interdisciplinary groups of faculty, students, and projects across the University of Arizona’s campus, from climate science to public policy, law, the arts, water resources and beyond.

Biosphere 2 is a one-of-a-kind facility, University of Arizona researchers are studying how plants cope with high temperatures and drought to better understand how climate change may affect forests. Outside, researchers are growing plants beneath solar panels, pairing renewable energy with agriculture as they explore innovative ways to grow nutritious food crops while increasing energy output.

Center for Climate Adaptation Science and Solutions (CCASS) mission is to support sound management choices in the context of global change, linking science, the information needs of managers, and decision-making.

CyVerse provides life scientists with powerful computational infrastructure to handle huge datasets and complex analyses, thus enabling data-driven discovery.

Global Health Institute The University of Arizona's Global Health Institute works across disciplines and with international partners around the world to address health concerns through applied work, education, and research collaboration. The Institute brings together University of Arizona staff and faculty who are actively engaged in international work to address the most pressing global health challenges.

Institute of Energy Solutions (IES) provides a hub for cross-college energy science, policy, and technology research and development, which benefits the public and enhances the land-grant mission of the University of Arizona.

The Bureau for Applied Research in Anthropology (BARA) has earned an international reputation for its unique mixed-methods approach to applied research. This includes a sequenced methodology that employs rapid appraisal, household surveys, and focus group interviews has been adopted as a standard research methodology by many development agencies.

The Southwest Climate Adaptation Science Center (SWCASC) works with natural and cultural resource managers to develop and deliver scientific information and techniques to anticipate, monitor, and adapt to climate variability and change in the southwestern United States.

The Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW) works to reduce group-based disparities through outreach, innovative behavior-change programming, system-level change, research, and policy-related advocacy.

The University of Arizona Global Micro-Campus Network has established a worldwide network of micro-campuses for the international delivery of collaborative degree programs to local students on the campuses of our partner universities.

Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy supports interdisciplinary research linking scholarship with relevant policy and decision-making.

Water and Energy Sustainable Technology (WEST) Center is an innovative public/private partnership bringing together industry, government, and academia to help communities manage water scarcity and reuse.
